Located in East Alberta Canada, our region boasts all of the assets you would expect to find in a thriving community - and a lot that will pleasantly surprise you!

Alberta Canada is widely recognized for its petroleum based industry.  For over 50 years, Alberta has been home to world scale oil and gas industry development.  And with the continued development of the oil sands in Northern Alberta, the importance of the carbon based oil and gas industry will continue for the province of Alberta.

Regionally, several oil and gas companies work actively in Paintearth, providing significant employment and revenue to the area.

Alberta is also an agricultural powerhouse, and Paintearth contributes much to the success of Alberta's agriculture industry.  The area boasts strong crop production capabilities, and also has significant livestock capacity.

We also have productive greenhouse and seed farm capability, adding to the agricultural diversity of the area.  For businesses in need of a region with strong local access to grain, oilseed, or livestock supply, the County of Paintearth is a great place to locate.

Building on this foundation, and with an eye to the future, the Paintearth region is confidently moving forward in many ways that might surprise you.  Paintearth has many more resources that build on our solid business and agricultural base.  These additional assets provide the linkage to progressive and modern regional development that pave the way to a strong future.

Our additional 'natural resources' include high annual levels of sunlight, excellent wind resources, and the innovative, pioneer spirit of our regional human resources.  When combined with existing businesses, these emerging resources provide a strong connection to the future!

Regional Infrastructure

Picture
Transportation
Our region is serviced by an excellent highway network consisting of Highway 12 providing east and west connecting Saskatchewan to Red Deer, Alberta. Highway 36 is currently designated a high/wide-load corridor to facilitate oversize loads throughout Alberta, and a key northern arm of the Ports-to-Plains Alliance network connecting Canada, USA & Mexico.  As a prospective manufacturer this should not be overlooked as to locate away from this highway may increase your operational costs.

Our region is serviced by 2 community airports in Castor and Coronation, providing 4000 ft. runways to accommodate small aircraft.  Edmonton International Airport is the closest major airport, approximately 2 hours away, with the Calgary International Airport less than 3 hours away from the center of the region.

We have several trucking companies in our region to assist you with the movement of goods. Purolator, Loomis (DHL), Greyhound and Highway 9 provide courier and transport services throughout our region.

Water

Our region is part of the Shirley McClellan Regional Water Services Commission.  This regional water provides high quality treated water to our communities along highway 12.

Wastewater
Castor, Coronation and Halkirk each provide municipal wastewater facilities. The County of Paintearth requires a wastewater system for each development subject to provincial building code regulations. Crowfoot Crossing industrial park has provisions for wastewater services.

Internet
Paintearth Economic Partnership owns a wireless broadband internet system to ensure your business stays connected to your clients, utilizing Wildrose Internet Network as a contract ISP.  Other internet providers include XplorNet, TELUS, and Corridor Communications.

Electricity
Electricity is available through Atco Electric. Currently we have several high voltage lines serving throughout our region to assist your business development.

Natural Gas
Natural Gas is provided by two companies - Paintearth Gas Coop & Atco Gas.
